DAY
- By Summer Nicklasson, Aug 2016
The sun is the parent.
Good morning it's time!
It's time to do the thing that you need to do.
Allow me to open these blinds.
A loon calls to the lake.
A deer forages for food.
The fox considers a rest, a nocturnal falling.
Be still.
The city hums to life.
Exhaust and grime choke the highway.
People flick on the kitchen light
stumble towards the coffee pot.
The thunk of the paper.
Clothes laid out the night before.
Tired whines from children.
Aching backs.
Light reaching further and further inside.
You can not escape this.
