Month in review: June 2012

Mike had a birthday!

Ellie spent much of the time with just her swim hat on.

Brewfest! Man was it HOT!

I had a birthday, too.

Backyard jam sesh, 3 year old included!

We got to meet POPPY!!

And I got to hang out with my lovely ladies.

This is called urban campfiring.

And see this totally badass and AWESOME terrarrium? (please note the unicorn)

Handmade by this girl. I LOVE IT!

Kalie came to town!  (And we went to a lot of Jazz in the Park's)

Little birthday ride with my friends up to Vail pass.
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band with my new and very cool friend, Olivia!

We had some sad times, too. Sad times where we got to be with our family .

We had to say goodbye to Kelly. This was deeply sad.
But in that grief we got to connect with family we don't get to see very often. (Come visit us again soon!)
This is us at a wedding in Breckinridge.

This is the bride and groom, Derek and Becca. I told Ellie she was a princess.

This is what we did after the wedding.

Ellie got swim goggles and thinks they are the coolest thing ever!

I got a banjo and think it's the coolest thing ever!
Sitting on top of the world.

Ellie's first ever fireworks. The sky turned to magic!

This was a really intense month. Intense heat. Intense sadness and joy, Intense fear and intense peace. I don't know that I like to say that I live so "intensely", but man, I can sure say that life is full!

And summer continues on!

Month in review: May 2012

May showers...

...brings reasons to go to Starbucks for coffee. (Then again so does sunshine, wind, and well, any reason really)
Mommy brought her guitar to Ellie's school for a  singalong. It was so SO cute!

Ellie LOVES her friends at school.

Lala came to visit! Ellie got to stay up WAY LATE and go to the airport in her pajamas.

Ellie was VERY excited to bring Lala to her school.

Mommy ran the Colfax half marathon.

We spent SO much time on the porch.

We strolled on over to the Montview Festival. Coolest kids carnival I ever did see.

We learned that JUMPING is, like, so fun!

For mother's day my very awesome family pretended to have fun with variegated warehouse garage doors and a remote control!

Love her.
Ellie had a birthday party!

Because now she's THREE!

We went camping with the Pearlmans....

...in UTAH

and it was SO AWESOME!

Gratuitous mountain biking shot!

Nature is rocking our world.

And we get to sleep in it camper style.

We had some really great family fun.

But we had to say goodbye to one family member: our little Gabby Goo.

But on May 31 we had a lovely visit from Mike's dad and his wife and Ellie got to know Grandpa and Angie.

Life continues to be very good. Even when it's hard.
But mostly it's just awesome.

Month in review: April 2012

I try to keep this blog interesting, really I do, but the bottom line is, I don't write this blog to please the general masses. I have feebly tried at this and failed. So in being my personal blog, it also happens to be the only representation of my child's youth (save the gajillion photos that I take). So for the sake of record keeping and personal interest I've decided to start a Month in Review on the last day of each month. I don't expect there to be mass interest in the details of what we do on our weekends, but perhaps someday my daughter will be interested. And if my brain starts going south I'll at least have some vague reference points to rely on.

So anyway, here leaves April, like a newly budded season just popping open. Again, a beautiful month to remind us how blessed we are.

Garden of the Gods

Finding treasures at the Botanical Gardens

Throwing rocks in the water, a favorite toddler pasttime

A gorgeous view during one of my runs. I've been running so much this month and feeling strong.

Again with the rock throwing, this time in the middle of a bike ride through Boulder.

Easy afternoons

I just love this picture of my sweet niece, Adaleigh, taken on Easter Sunday.

She may make give us a few gray hairs, but when it's good, it's good!

Do we look alike?

Our front porch gets a lot of living these days.

I had to say goodbye to my sweet friend, Sarah. Love you girl.

Pretend fishing at a PBS Sprouts event at City Park.

Hoo, hoo! I adore this owl's face!!!

.Teaching my girl how to hoop like her mama!

A dream come true for Ellie, using a REAL fireman hose!

Clifford the Big Red Dog. I think he freaked Ellie out.

I even got a girls night out! You know, the kind that makes you feel like you're 100 years old. STILL FUN though!

This is the what happens when 30 year olds get a hotel room WITHOUT children: BED JUMPING!!
Us!
